Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Lead HVAC Mechanic and Shift Manager, the incumbent adjusts, repairs, troubleshoots and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Gaming Commission Regulations and Seminole Tribe of Florida departmental policies and procedures.
  • Adjusts, repairs, troubleshoots and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Performs all preventive maintenance on systems and maintains applicable log books.
  • Conducts walk-through inspections; changes belts, filters, adjusts volume dampers, checks gauges, coils, drain lines, bleeds gas lines, resets compressors, check unit sensors, relocates ductwork and troubleshoots to locate sources and cause of malfunction.
  • Assists with estimating parts, supplies, equipment and labor hours needed to complete assigned repairs and monitors computer for malfunctions.
  • Maintains quality of air, air flow and temperature at on and off-site facilities; adjusts valves to regulate temperature of lubrication oil and flow of water through system.
  • Records gauge readings, repairs completed and time lost due to inoperative equipment.
  • Maintains technical logs and records all relevant data as appropriate.
  • Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or technical certificate required as well as a minimum of three (3) years’ experience with commercial industrial equipment or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Must also have a Florida state EPA HVAC License and possess basic mechanical aptitude. Must be able to read, understand and interpret schematics, plans, diagrams and drawings.

 

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in high/precarious places, be near fiberglass insulation and electrical current. 
  • May be exposed to casino related environmental factors including, but not limited to, second hand smoke and excessive noise.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • The Casino environment is hectic, fast-paced and often crowded and noisy. May be exposed to casino related environmental factors including, but not limited to, second hand smoke, excessive noise and constant exposure to general public.
