Overview

Commission Officer Supervisor reports directly to and assists the Commission Officer Manager in the daily departmental or casino operation activities. The Commission Officer Supervisor is responsible for all actions and activities that occur on their shift and directly supervise the subordinates on the shift.

 

While this position reports to the Seminole Tribal Gaming Commission Headquarters; they may be located at one of the Seminole Gaming properties in Hollywood, Brighton, Immokalee, or Tampa.

 

It is the responsibility of the Commission Officer Supervisor to protect the assets of the Seminole Tribe, to observe and report any and all improprieties directly to their respective chain of command. Commission Officer Supervisors shall monitor the property for compliance with the approved Tribal Internal Control Standards, Seminole Tribal Gaming Code, State of Florida Gaming Compact, and the Casino Policy & Procedures. All suspicious activities and discrepancies shall be documented and reported to the Seminole Tribal Gaming Commission according to the chain of command. The Commission Officer Supervisors will be responsible for their assigned shift and that the Commission Officer Manager is kept aware of all activity on a daily basis. Commission Officer Supervisors shall mentor and provide guidance to and monitor the daily performance of the Commission Officers and ensure all policies and guidelines are followed.

Responsibilities

Essential Job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with all administrative functions, employee development and coordinate with gaming operations to complete required task.
  • As needed, perform the administrative duties and responsibilities of the Commission Officer Manager
  • Directing the daily activities of the Commission Officer staff.
  • Managing administrative functions, including but not limited to productivity reports, Overtime reports, etc.
  • Assist with the employee progressive discipline process, including logging of employee files and observing disciplinary counseling.
  • Attending facility or STGC management meetings.
  • Assist Commission Manager with producing and maintaining an office budget.
  • Management tasks as assigned to ensure productive and efficient operations of the Commission Officer staff and the casino facility.
  • The Manager is also tasked with coaching and mentoring the Commission Officer staff.
  • Identify outstanding Commission Officers and to encourage job performance growth.
  • Ensures that all objectives and department daily, monthly and quarterly goals are met.
  • Must be able to produce high quality and quantity of work and must demonstrate the highest degree of integrity, honesty and dependability; possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Expected to have a high level proficiency and understanding of STGC policies, the Seminole Tribal Gaming Code, SGA operational policies and procedures, Tribal Human Resources Handbook, and the Gaming Commission Officer Manual.
  • High level proficiency in verification/procedure/technique of casino operations including but not limited to the following areas: Slots (including software and machine components); cards for Poker; cards, dice, layouts for Table Games; etc.
  • Expected to observe, understand, and explain gaming related activity at to ensure compliance with stated STGC policies, the Seminole Tribal Gaming Code, SGA Human Resources Policies and Procedures, and SGA operational policies and procedures.
  • Expected to have an advanced understanding of concepts and procedures related to audits in Slots (gaming floor and inventory); Table Games; poker; cash ops; revenue; and other casino departments.
  • Must have previously attended and completed a Report Writing class. Must show advanced proficiency in report writing skills.
  • Must display thorough investigative work, including collecting of all related information and documentation when a violation or incident has occurred.
  • Expected to keep both management and subordinate employees informed of any information that needs to be passed from shift to shift. Assist the Commission Officer Manager in passing communication in person to other shifts and/or departments.
  • Completion of the Semi-annual Title-31 test; Table Games Training; GLI Courses; Report Writing Training; Investigation Training, etc.
  • Expected to have a general understanding of documentation and storage procedures for all current and updated documents utilized within the department. Examples include but are not limited to: Slot Control Logs, Transfer/Destruction Logs, Issue/Return Logs, Received Logs, inventory programs and associated paperwork, auditing forms and reporting, productivity tracking, email, etc.
  • Expected to be able to complete job related tasks in the allotted time given during the shift, and facilitate a smooth transition for any job related tasks that continue past the shift.
  • Must have an entry level understanding of management concepts: evaluations, payroll, professionalism, fact checking, etc.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant Casino experience is required, Commission and/or Surveillance experience is highly preferred. Additional relevant experience and /or education may be considered
  • High School diploma or equivalent GED is required
  • Knowledge of the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) regulations and the Seminole Tribal Gaming Ordinance, Tribal Minimal Internal Control Standards (MICS) is required
  • Ability to meet established standards to obtain the Employee Gaming License is required
  • Demonstrate the highest degree of integrity, honesty and dependability. Must have excellent organizational/interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
  • Must be able to travel to all Reservations and work a flexible schedule including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as required.
